Encouragement From Me to You

Encouragement From Me to You

You Are Embraced

by Susan A. Smith on 10/31/13

I want to encourage you today Woman of God.   Take a moment to read this excerpt from my new book "I AM From A-Z for Women."  This book discusses 26 divine characteristics of Christ.  Each characteristic discussed is written with you in mind.  My desire is that every woman would begin to see herself as God created her, not being defined by experiences or another person's opinion.  I thought about which letter to share with you and decided on letter E for Embraced.  Read and enjoy!  If you like what you read and would like to read more, you can purchase this book at amazon.com or at www.susanasmith.net.

"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved)."

Ephesians 2:4-5

"You are worthy to be embraced. The scriptures say that God is rich in mercy. Mercy is defined as compassion or forgiveness toward someone who has the ability or power to harm.

God's mercy is extended towards you today and every day. Why? Because He loves you! Remember all of the sins you committed? I am not asking you to condemn yourself, but just to reflect to see the extent of God's goodness in your life. Even after we are born again, we often have the tendency to create idols in our lives. Sometimes, especially as women, we can put a man before God himself. We may not trade Him for silver or gold, but a man; now wait a minute. Some women can look at the sins committed and think to themselves, Wow, God sure does love me. He forgave me even when I rejected Him, turned my back on Him, and just flat out didn't care. When you think about all He has done in your life, you can begin to celebrate Him. You love and want to serve Him even to a greater degree due to the mercy He has graciously given you.

Instead of receiving God's mercy and forgiveness, however, some women struggle with it all of their lives. It''s tough to have situations happen in your life in which you cannot seem to move on from that place of hurt, shame, and condemnation. Today the Father wants you to receive His love because, in spite of what you have done, God loved you enough to send Jesus to die on the cross for you.

Some women have a very hard time receiving God's love, because all the love that's been shown to them has been conditional. You do this for me; I will do this for you. God's mercy and love are totally unconditional. He loved you even before the foundations of the world. You were on His mind. He desires to extend all of His love and mercy toward you. You may be thinking; He wants me after all that I have done? Then you begin to run down your list of sins. That list becomes so long that you keep yourself from experiencing God's mercy and forgiveness. Let me just add a note: God knew what you were going to do before you did it anyway, and He still loves you! You talk yourself out of the forgiveness that is available to you. I know it may seem inconceivable, but it's not. Accepting God's love is just like receiving a gift. Someone gives you a gift; you say thank you; and you begin to enjoy the gift. Mercy, love, and salvation are gifts. You cannot work for them. You cannot earn them. They are gifts from God. Receive these gifts today. Stop rejecting the gifts. Yes, He still wants to call you daughter. Selah, (think about that).

God has forgiven you; now it is time for you to forgive yourself. He embraces you completely and totally, with no strings attached. You are worthy to be embraced, forgiven, loved, and cherished. See yourself as God sees you. Look at the love and mercy that was given to the woman in John 8. The religious people and the people in her town saw her one way. But Jesus saw her through a different set of eyes. He saw her as forgiven.

Allow God to embrace you, no matter what others have said or what you have done. You are worthy to be embraced."

As always, comments are welcomed!  Be blessed and pass it on!

You Can Do It

by Susan A. Smith on 07/08/13

Have you ever had one statement or question or Word from God that changed your life?  What about an "ah ha" moment?  Well I had mine the other day.  I heard to whom much is given much is required (Luke 12:48).  But then I also heard to whom much is required, much is given. Sometimes we think what God has called us to do is overwhelming, just too much.  It takes too much time, cost too much money we don't have, requires too much of US.  Let me encourage you today, if that's you?  He gives us the grace and everything we need to do what He wants us to do.  Therefore that eliminates all excuses. SELAH

What is it that you need to do what God has called you to do? Is it finances, is it people, is it strength, is it wisdom, is it a building, is it a car, etc.  You should know that God will fund and supply all needs required for His purpose!  Before the foundations of the world, He prepared everything (Ish. 46:10)!  Everything includes all things.  All things include everything!  God is able!!!  Let go of your excuses today!  God knows what He is doing!

Remember to whom much is given, much is required.  And to whom much is required, much is also given.

Embrace Your Path

by Susan A. Smith on 01/17/13

Embrace Your Path

The word embrace means to accept or support a belief, theory, or change willingly and enthusiastically.  Are we really embracing His plan and/or purpose, His will for our lives?   Remember to embrace means to accept or support a belief, theory, or change willingly and enthusiastically.  Before the foundation of the world, God has mapped out a plan for us (Jeremiah 29:11).  Isaiah 46:10 says, He declared your end before the beginning.  He thought about you before the foundation of the world.  Ephesians 2:10 AMP uses the word predestined.  Predestined is defined as destined someone for a particular fate or purpose; determine an outcome or course of events in advance by divine will or fate.  God has already declared your end and it is a good end.  II Corinthians 2:14 lets you know that God always causes you to triumph.  God declared for you to win in life.  He wants and has planned for you to live the abundant life, to richly enjoy all things, to live a life in excess and abundance, till it overflows.  He really does want you to succeed in life.  Who puts an awesome plan in place to bless someone and does not want to see it come to pass?

Why is it that we don't trust His plan?  We fight against it, we detour from it, and sometimes we just flat out go in the opposite direction.  I am sure not knowing about God's character and the benefits of following Him is among the top five reasons.  Take a moment to ask God a question, "Show me why I do not trust your plan for my life?"  I am sure Holy Spirit will reveal the answer.  After He reveals the answer, it's up to you to do something about it.

Two suggestions to get you on your way.  First, go to the Word of God and find scriptures to turn your belief system to think like God thinks.  God wants His plans of prosperity and success and wholeness to become a reality in your life.  Second, following the instructions in John 2:5, do whatever He tells you to do.  To live the kind of life God has planned for you, it will take obedience and faith.  Faith is trusting in the character and nature of God in every situation, even the situations that are most important in your life.  They include your relationships, dreams, desires, ministry, career, your money, etc.  God has a plan for it ALL.  He is a God of excellence, order, and detail. Faith and obedience have a great reward.

It's time for you to live life the way God intended.  Let it start today!   As always, if this blog has ministered to you, please pass it on.  Until next time, be encouraged.

Words of Affirmation

by Susan A. Smith on 12/27/12

A few weeks ago, I ministered to the women at my church during the altar call.  My heart was so heavy after I ministered to them, I wanted to go somewhere and just cry.  The words of wisdom that the Lord had me to share with them centered around negative words that had been spoken and had taken root in their hearts.  I know first hand about the manifestations of negative words spoken over a person's life.

I was so impacted by that service, I could not sleep.  I began to write out this confession.  Mark 11:23 says that we will have what we say.  I encourage you to begin to say and believe what the Word says about you.  Then just like me, you will begin to see a different harvest in your life.  You can also add specific affirmations to these as well.  I am agreeing with you for transformation in your life as you meditate, believe and confess God's Word.  You may also want to purchase my book, I AM From A to Z.  It is a list, from letters A to Z, referencing who you have become as a result of accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour.  It is available on amazon.com.

This confession is written for:  every woman who believes she is less than what God created her to be, for every woman who has believed the negative words of others, for every women who has been verbally abused, for every woman who has not had many standing ovations in life...Now is your time!  This is the beginning of your transformation.  Begin to make and believe these WORDS OF AFFIRMATION EVERY DAY.

Matthew 6:15 AMP - I release all of the people who have hurt me

I will not be angry, bitter, jealous or hard of heart

I am responsible for my own choices and mine alone

I will walk in love and forgiveness and compassion

I am an extension of God's love in my words and actions

Luke 4:8 - NIV - God is first in my life

People, places and/or things are not idols in my life, God is the one I worship

I put people in their proper place in my life, not above God

Deuteronomy 31:8 AMP - God is with me

God validates me

God affirms me and I agree with Him

God loves me and I love ME

Jeremiah 29:11 KJV - God's plan and path for my life is a good one

God thought about me before the foundations of the world and has a great plan for my life.  A plan of good and not evil, peace and not confusion

I walk in the path that has been carved out just for me

I embrace my own path

Deuteronomy 8:18 I will succeed and do well because God has empowered me to prosper

I make wise decisions, with the Holy Spirit's help

When I do well, I give myself a standing ovation

II Corinthians 10:5 - I do not mediate on negative words

I meditate on who God says I am

I do not allow negative words that have been spoken to me to infiltrate my mind

I do not allow negative words to dedicate my destiny

Psalms 139:14 I am fearfully and wonderfully made

I am not a mistake because God created me, and He does not make mistakes

I am beautiful

I am strong

I am capable

I am intelligent

Again, confess these words of affirmation out loud every day.  Please leave me a comment expressing your thoughts and progress.

Until next time, Be Encouraged!

Coast to Coast Women's Gathering Highlights

by Susan A. Smith on 10/01/12

By way of introduction, I want to encourage you.  Keep your God-given dreams alive in your heart until they manifest!  The vision of several women's ministries coming together for a conference has been in my heart for such a long time.  I have learned that just because it may take time for the vision to come to pass, does not mean it is not God.  Don't let time be an enemy to your faith!  Dreams and visions will come to pass in due season.  The Father has been preparing me for this time all along.  Just as the disciples and Paul were prepared for ministry, so it is the same with you and me.  We need to be prepared for our Kingdom assignment.

My process started 23 years ago with mentoring girls in the youth ministry.  As I was faithful with the young ladies that were entrusted to me, God began to trust me with more.  The next part of the preparation was participating in the women's ministry at church.  Helping to bring someone else's vision to pass is one way God teaches and prepares you for your own.  While in Philadelphia, I helped make Pastor Tracey's vision for the women's ministry come to pass.  Apart of my training was to do whatever was needed and/or asked.  God was not finished yet.

Once we became Pastors of IYWCC Elkton, I started the women's ministry, that was eight years ago.  It was different because I was now entirely responsible for the women's ministry.  All along the way God was working with me, teaching me.  God works with us just as He did with the disciples, Mark 16:20.  The Father knows what it takes to make sure you are ready to flow.  You must trust Him.  Proverbs 3:5 and 6 says that we should trust in the Lord with all of our heart and lean not to our own understanding.  In all of our ways seek Him and He will direct our paths.  Proverb 37:5, says if we commit our ways to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.  Be encouraged, God is working on something!

So let me tell you about our first Coast to Coast Women's Gathering, it was AAMMAAZZINNGG!  The love and unity of the women was something you had to experience.  Women from Connecticut, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey gathered for two days and two nights.  The Ultimate Stiletto Party on Thursday night was the kick-off.  The party was on the 15th floor of the Hyatt in Inner Baltimore Harbor.  The view was picture perfect.  The lights, water, boats, can't you just imagine?  DJ Praze did an awesome job of getting almost every woman on the floor, young and seasoned.  It was great to see women just enjoying themselves.  Many women shared that they had not had a moment in a long while to just have FUN.  We danced and sang from till , and I mean we danced. The ladies were beautifully dressed with gorgeous stilettos, ready for the red carpet.

Have you ever walked a red carpet?  Well, we did.  We modeled our stilettos or fabulous flats.  Some of the ladies looked like they were professional models.  I cannot tell you how much fun we had Thursday night.  The two winners received an acrylic trophy in the shape of a stiletto with pink lettering.  The trophy was so sharp, I wish I had won.  No, I'm just kidding.  I was so happy to see the women having fun that was my reward.

Within the next few weeks I will give you a snap shot of the workshop information.  The workshop sessions were High Impact Leader: Change Agent for the 21st Century taught by Bernadette Mills; Family Matters taught by Candi Stewart; the G5 Woman taught by Ray Smith; Single and Satisfied taught by Tracey Barnard; and BIG Girls taught by Yours Truly.  Stay tuned for more details about the workshops, they were informative, motivating, and relevant.

It's been good communicating with you.  Hope you were encouraged to continue to believe God.  God is getting you ready to fulfill His purpose in the earth.  Woot, Woot.

If this blog has encouraged you, please leave a comment and, as always, pass it on!

Until Next Monday,

Susan A. Smith
